The Friends Hospital Crisis Response Center will provide crisis assessment and evaluation 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Crisis Response Center is always open. 

Our Services Include:

* Psychiatric evaluation and treatment 
* Drug and alcohol evaluation and intervention
* Identification of treatment alternatives
* Referral services to ensure access to needed services
* Confidential crisis counseling and support

Questions and Answers about the Friends Hospital Crisis Response Center (CRC)

Q. What is a Crisis Response Center (CRC)?

A. The Crisis Response Center provides an assessment and helps stabilize individuals in a psychiatric or substance induced related crisis.

Q: Do you have a crisis hotline?

A: Yes. We offer a free 24-hour crisis hotline. The phone number is 215-831-6300.  The service is available to clients, families, and anyone concerned about someone in crisis.

Q. What does someone in crisis do if he/she needs help?

A.  A person in crisis, a concerned family member, or friend, should call the CRC at 215-831-6300 or come immediately to the CRC. No appointment is necessary.

Q. What happens when I come to the CRC?

A.  Staff members in the CRC deliver crisis care in a compassionate and respectful manner. After an assessment is completed, CRC staff assists individuals and their families in finding the appropriate services and treatment in the least restrictive environment. A case manager provides help to ensure a smooth transition to the next level of care.

Q: Who are the people who work in the CRC? 

A: The CRC is staffed by psychiatrists, registered nurses, case managers, and consumer/family advocates. The entire staffing team works together to ensure that clinical needs and basic social services are met.

Q.  Do I have to go to a specific Crisis Response Center or can I choose one?

A. You can go to any Crisis Response Center in the City of Philadelphia. There are a total of five Crisis Response centers. Friends Hospital Crisis Response Center is the only CRC in Northeast Philadelphia. Others are located at Einstein Medical Center, Hall Mercer Community Mental Health Center, Temple University Hospital and Mercy Hospital. Einstein Medical Center is the designated crisis response center for children and adolescents who have county or public funded insurance.
